Silence, Memorial, & Baseball

I have not posted anything in a few weeks, but intend to finish the rest of the workshop notes from San Diego and I’ve other things cooking.  However, with my wife’s recent (
one week ago today) bi-lateral reconstructive surgery followed immediately by Mondo and being her primary care giver at the moment, my working hours are limited.  This is especially challenging given that Regenerate is coming up in a week and a half.

StevePaintedHowever, tonight I find myself doing something I rarely do, namely watch baseball.  It’s not just that I am from Chicago (which I am) and am suddenly jumping on the bandwagon as if I was a Cubs fan all along.  I’m not really all that interested in Baseball. When hockey season reaches the playoffs though and Chicago has been them for several years now, I am glued to the telly. I am a Blackhawks fan. Tonight I am watching to see if my little brother’s dream comes true.  He was a diehard Cubs fan.  He went to as many games as possible, espec
ially opening game in the spring. When the Cubs had a home game on Mothers Day weekend, h
e made a point of taking my mom.  He and his girlfriend, who eventually became his wife, had season tickets. My brother, when he was working in advertising, was in a Bud Light commercial filmed in the bleacher seats of Wrigley field.  That aired regularly in Chicago for a while. The last time I saw my brother, in his coffin, he was dressed in his Cubs jersey.  That is how passionate he was about a team that has a long history of losing.

So, tonight I hope the Cubs make history and win the World Series for the first time in 108 years. I know my brother is looking down on the game with great interest. I only wish he could have been here to see it in his brief lifetime.
