I spoke a few weeks back to a Sunday School class of grandparents. The main thing I was trying to get across to the folks there was that the world their grandkids are growing up in is so different that it makes little sense to older generations. Specifically I spoke of the changing meaning of terms that have been around for a long time as well as new terms that are being absorbed by kids as fact rather than the radical ideas that they really are. I am speaking here of things like intersectionality, systemic racism, white privilege, micro agressions, gender fluidity, and lots more. You can read my notes here.
I was watching a podcast recently that features two authors who have written a great book explaining the umbrella of contemporary critical theories and how all of the above mentioned terminology comes through that. I encourage folks to take an hour and watch the interview.
