Jerusalem

Pictures from top to bottom… it was an afternoon tour of the Dead Sea area. We stopped at the Qumran community where the scrolls were found. If you don’t know the significance of them, it’s worth learning about. The pic looks like something from a Star Wars movie.

Next pic is of a facsimile of the scrolls. I saw some originals in The Israel Museum.

Then a shot of the Jordan river at a place where or like where two events could have occurred. One was Jesus’ baptism while the other would be the crossing by Joshua entering the promised land.

Finally a view of the Dead Sea with the reflection of the mountains of Jordan behind it. I floated in the sea but won’t get that pic until later. I spent the day with Mike Smith, vicar of St. John’s Hartford where I served as youth minister year ago.

My intention was to blog throughout the trip but it was hectic and led straight into the GAFCON event in Jerusalem. More to come!
